At the Estadio de la Cerámica, Manchester City never looked troubled as they eased past Villarreal 2–0 thanks to goals from Erling Haaland and Bernardo Silva.

Did Gianluigi Donnarumma even break a sweat? On a warm Spanish evening, the Italian keeper enjoyed a quiet night behind a City team that dominated from start to finish. Pep Guardiola’s men controlled possession, varied their attacks, and suffocated Villarreal’s buildup. John Stones stepped into midfield, Rico Lewis drifted centrally, and the pressure finally paid off when Lewis picked out Haaland, who calmly slotted home.

City’s second came courtesy of a perfect Savinho cross, met by the head of Bernardo Silva — so precise that the Portuguese didn’t even need to jump.

Villarreal briefly came alive after halftime, forcing a couple of saves from Donnarumma, while Haaland missed two chances to double his tally. But City’s control never wavered.

A composed, professional performance — and another step closer to knockout-stage qualification.
