Held to a draw away at Girona, Real Madrid surrendered their place at the top of La Liga. Struggling for rhythm and inspiration, Los Blancos delivered a flat, predictable performance.
- Girona 1-1 Real Madrid : Ounahi 45’ – Mbappé 67’

Real Madrid continue to show signs of late-autumn inconsistency. Capable of brilliance one day and mediocrity the next, the same team that produced an attacking festival in Piraeus in the Champions League looked unrecognizable just a few days later in Catalonia. Girona, driven by a magnificent Azzedine Ounahi, bent but never broke. Every time the Moroccan maestro touched the ball, Girona’s entire attacking structure seemed to come alive—and it was no surprise when he opened the scoring late in the first half after a well-timed assist from Tsygankov.
Real pushed harder after the break, and despite a scare in the 57th minute on a powerful strike from Vanat, the visitors eventually equalized through the inevitable Kylian Mbappé. Vinicius burst into the box and was brought down, earning a penalty that Mbappé calmly converted.
No further goals followed, and Real Madrid leave Catalonia frustrated—and no longer at the top of La Liga.
