Group A: A Statement Win for Morocco, Mali Sneak Through

In a high-stakes match for Moroccans already qualified but still plagued by doubts, Morocco fully reassured themselves. Author of a strong and controlled performance, Morocco also put on a show, highlighted by El Kaabi’s exceptional third goal. The Olympiacos striker scored a brace, while Brahim Díaz also found the net. Both now join Algeria’s Riyad Mahrez at the top of the scoring charts. Achraf Hakimi, Ballon d’Or of Africa, made his comeback on this game.

In the Mali–Comoros match, there was little to no spectacle and no goals to report. With two coaches fearful of attacking, the game dragged on, and Mali secured qualification in disappointing fashion. The Eagles finished with zero wins and will need to raise their level to avoid an early return to Bamako.

Group B: South Africa Through, Angola Waiting

In the 5 p.m. kickoff, the match between Egypt and Angola ended in a 0–0 draw. Despite fielding an experimental lineup due to already securing qualification, Egypt showed no lack of motivation. However, Angola failed to make the difference or find the goal needed to clinch direct qualification. They finish third and could still advance depending on the results of tomorrow’s matches.

One thing is certain: the Zimbabwe–South Africa match produced both a qualified team and an eliminated one. In a wild five-goal encounter, South Africa managed to take the lead three times and ultimately secured victory, sealing second place.
