Spalletti versus Conte: whenever two managers face their former clubs, the storyline writes itself. For Luciano Spalletti, it was his first return to Naples since winning the Scudetto in 2023. But once the match began, the narrative took a back seat to the stakes at hand—and Napoli immediately seized control with a perfect start. Dominating possession in the early phases, the Partenopei opened the scoring through Højlund. Released into space by Di Lorenzo, Neres drove forward before squaring the ball to the Dane, who slipped through the defense to score.

Napoli nearly doubled their lead, but Di Gregorio denied an accidental header from Di Lorenzo. Juventus struggled to create anything meaningful; aside from a major miss by Kelly on a set piece, Spalletti’s men barely threatened. Napoli had another huge chance for 2–0 when McTominay hit the post.

Those missed opportunities came back to haunt them. In the 58th minute, Turkish prodigy Kenan Yildiz struck a brilliant equalizer to bring Juventus back into the match. Momentum seemed to tilt slightly toward the Bianconeri, and they looked the more likely side to score next. But fortune swung Napoli’s way. After a poorly executed clearance, McKennie gifted Højlund a golden chance to complete his brace—one he finished with authority.

Napoli held firm to secure all three points and reclaim their place at the top of Serie A.
