Chelsea had fun against Ajax. Reduced to ten men early after Kenneth Taylor’s red card, the Dutch side ended up as sparring partners for a lively Chelsea team that cruised to a 5–1 win.

Stamford Bridge under European lights always feels special, and tonight was no exception.

With several young players in the starting eleven, Chelsea’s carefree flair quickly stood out — Gittens and Estevão tore up the wings, while Buonanotte’s runs caused all sorts of trouble for Ajax, one of which led to Taylor’s sending-off. On the ensuing free kick, Fofana headed the ball back across goal for Guiu, who became the first player to score Champions League goals for two different clubs before turning 20.

Caicedo doubled the lead shortly after, and although Weghorst pulled one back from the penalty spot, Ajax conceded two more penalties — converted by Enzo Fernández and Estevão for their first-ever Champions League goals.

Early in the second half, George added Chelsea’s fifth, and from there the young Blues controlled the game with confidence. It was also a night to remember for Acheampong and Walsh, who made their first-team Champions League debuts.

A beautiful win for an exciting young Chelsea side.
