Crystal Palace 2-1 Liverpool

Before the game, both Crystal Palace and Liverpool were still unbeaten in Premier League after 5 games. The previous champions Liverpool were the logic favorites even if Crystal Palace are doing a fantastic job since last year with their first two trophies in their history (FA Cup and Community Shield 2025).
At the 9th minute of the game, after a confusion in Liverpool’s defense following a Crystal Palace corner, Ismaila Sarr scored in an almost empty goal, 1-0 Palace. 2 minutes later Ismaila Sarr almost got the assist after a brilliant counterattack, but Alisson made a superb save to keep Liverpool alive.
Liverpool had their biggest chance of the first half with Ryan Gravenberch at the 19th minute, the Dutch sent a rocket to Dean Henderson but the English goalkeeper saved it. Crystal Palace kept pushing during the rest of the first half but Alisson made fantastic and heroic saves.
Crystal Palace only had 29% of ball possession in the first half but were no doubtly the most dangerous team on the pitch. They almost doubled the scoreline with Mateta at the 45+4′ minute, but the French hit the post.
In the second half, Liverpool finally entered in their match as they created more chances. Dominik Szoboszlai crossed the ball to Florian Wirtz but the German’s shot is denied by Dean Henderson. At the 64′ minute, Alexander Isak almost scored his first premier League goal for Liverpool after a brilliant pass from Alexis Mac Allister, but the Swedish shot out of target.
After accumulating chances, Liverpool finally finds the net as Federico Chiesa scored the equalizer at the 87′ minute. 1-1.
After a long touch, Marc Guehi deflected the ball with his head towards Eddie Nketiah. The Englishman controlled it with his chest, shot, and scored. 2-1 Crystal Palace in a suffocating scenario.
With this win, Crystal Palace showed once again to English soccer that they are now playing in a new dimension, they are able to beat every Premier League teams and are now the last undefeated team in the league. They are 2nd with 12 points, 3 points behind Liverpool who suffered their first loss of the season.
