October 18, 2025 — and the Bundesliga already looks decided. Vincent Kompany’s Bayern Munich have once again asserted their dominance, defeating archrivals Borussia Dortmund 2-1 in a fiercely contested Der Klassiker. Harry Kane, as so often this season, was monumental — the English striker delivered yet another masterclass in a game that already feels defining.

The opening 45 minutes were one-way traffic. Bayern dominated possession and hemmed Dortmund deep inside their own half, suffocating them with relentless pressing and fluid movement. Dortmund’s low block, while compact, struggled to resist constant waves of red shirts.

Chances were scarce, but set pieces made the difference. Joshua Kimmich whipped in a perfect cross from a free kick, and Harry Kane — the most clinical No. 9 in world football right now — rose above everyone to nod home the opener. It was his 13th Bundesliga goal of the season, another reminder of his extraordinary form.

Moments later, Michael Olise came inches from doubling the lead, rattling the post with a curling effort that left Gregor Kobel frozen.

After a lifeless first half, Dortmund came alive after the break. Nmecha grazed the outside of the post with a header, and Karim Adeyemi spurned a golden chance with a scuffed finish when through on goal.

But pushing higher up the pitch left gaps in behind, and Bayern ruthlessly exploited them. On a rapid counterattack, Luis Díaz broke down the left and sent in a low cross — deflected by Jobe Bellingham, who couldn’t react quickly enough — and Olise pounced to smash home Bayern’s second.

It felt like game over, but Nico Kovač’s substitutions gave Dortmund a brief lifeline. Barely a minute after coming on, Julian Brandt struck to make it 2-1 and spark late tension at the Allianz Arena.

Despite Dortmund’s late push, Bayern stood firm. The final whistle confirmed yet another victory for Kompany’s side, who continue to blend fluid attacking football with defensive composure.

With this win, Bayern Munich have now become the first team since Real Madrid in 1968 to win their first eleven matches across all competitions. The Bundesliga title race may only be in October — but Bayern already look unstoppable.
