Manchester United win the derby of Manchester

Manchester United are one of the big winners of this Premier League matchday. By defeating their city rivals 2–0, Manchester United rediscovered their best qualities and climbed back up to 5th place in the standings.

In a derby where Manchester City dominated possession, Manchester United created their chances through well-executed counterattacks. After two goals were disallowed in the first half, Manchester United stepped up the pace. On another perfectly led counterattack orchestrated by Fernandes, Mbeumo beat Donnarumma. United then doubled their lead with a goal from Patrick Dorgu.

Sterile in attack, sloppy, and poorly organized defensively, Manchester City may have said goodbye to a tenth Premier League title.

Multiplex of 3pm : Liverpool stall, Chelsea win and Tottenham sink

In the 3. p.m. multiplex, Liverpool and Chelsea were both fighting for the Champions League race.

Facing Burnley’s Clarets, the Reds dominated comfortably but failed to score until the 42nd minute, when Florian Wirtz found the net and continued to grow into Liverpool’s attack. Liverpool’s offensive struggles were evident, highlighted by Szoboszlai’s missed penalty, and that lack of efficiency was punished when Edwards equalized on one of Burnley’s only chances.

Liverpool stall once again and see Chelsea close the gap to just two points. Indeed, for the first time since December, Chelsea won a Premier League match despite a very poor overall performance. The Blues can thank Kevin Schade’s missed chances and Igor Thiago’s quiet display for this victory. João Pedro and Cole Palmer, from the penalty spot, were the scorers.

Finally, Tottenham sank further after losing at the last minute against West Ham. Spurs are drifting into mid-table, and Thomas Frank’s days appear to be numbered.

Arsenal fail to capitalize

Aware of Manchester City’s slip-up in the Manchester derby, Arsenal had the chance to put their chasers nine points behind. The opportunity was missed by timid Gunners, frustrated by an excellent Forest defensive line.

Mats Sels was the standout performer of the match. The Belgian goalkeeper was impenetrable and the main reason Arsenal were unable to find a breakthrough.
