Top of the day : Arsenal keep moving forward at the top

Against a Sunderland side that was combative but ultimately outmatched, Arsenal managed to win in convincing fashion. Zubimendi and Gyökeres, twice, were the goalscorers of the day. Arsenal were able to hurt Sunderland on the counterattack and were not afraid to let them have the initiative in order to strike more effectively. Forced to push higher up the pitch, Sunderland left spaces behind, and Gyökeres took full advantage.

Flop of the day : Newcastle

Two defeats in two matches at St James’ Park — are Newcastle no longer solid at home? Against Brentford, Newcastle were disrupted by the physical challenge imposed by the Bees and went down 3–2. The match was a constant back-and-forth battle, but Brentford were sharper and had more energy. Newcastle are now starting to fall significantly behind in the race for Champions League qualification.

Man of the day : Cole Palmer

A hat-trick and a smile rediscovered for Cole Palmer against Wolverhampton. The English genius reminded everyone of his talent this afternoon, and his hat-trick should help him regain confidence heading into what promises to be an exciting end of the season for the Blues.
