After their humiliating 5-0 loss against PSG in the 2024/2025 Champions League Final, Inter Milan are determined to show that they earned their spot from last year. It starts well with a first win against Ajax Amsterdam.

After 2 seasons without Champions League, the historic Dutch club Ajax Amsterdam had to be there against Inter Milan to show the entire Europe that they were back. Unfortunately for them their first game against an equally historic club did not go as planned.
Both teams were analyzing each other during the first half, with the first great move being from Marcus Thuram at the 33′ minute (out-of-frame shot). Ajax got their best chance at the 40′ minute with a beautiful counterattack which launched Mika Godts deep but the Belgian missed his one on one against Inter’s keeper Yann Sommer.

At the beginning of the second half, Inter scored the exact same goal (47′) but in the other half of the field. Corner from the Turkish Hakan Calhanoglu, header from Marcus Thuram, 2-0. The striker scored his 4th and 5th goals of the season in 4 games.
Inter took the 3 points from Amsterdam and can now look forward before facing Sassuolo. Ajax suffered its first defeat of the season.
