After suffering their first loss of the season against Crystal Palace last weekend in Premier League, Liverpool was not able to find the solutions this time in Champions League against a solid side of Galatasaray at RAMS Park.
In a burning stadium as we know from the Turkish fans, Galatasaray had the first chance at the 2′ minute with Victor Osimhen giving a deep pass to Baris Yilmaz but saved by Alisson. At the 14′ minute Liverpool had the opportunity to score with Cody Gakpo after a miss from Ekitike, but his shot was denied almost on the line by Galatasaray defender.
Only 2 minutes later, entertainment was on the other end of the pitch, with Baris Yilmaz who caused Szoboszlai’s foul. Penalty for Galatasaray. Former Napoli striker Victor Osimhen scored. 1-0 for the Turkishs.
The game and atmosphere in general were very tense, both teams created a lot of chances but were never able to score. Osimhen had 2 opportunities to score a brace but Alisson won both one-on-ones. Galatasaray kept the 1-0 score alive and won this game by defying the odds.
With this loss, Liverpool fall at the 16th place in Champions League, Galatasaray climbs to the 18th place (waiting for results of next games).
