For this shock in the 3rd matchday of the 2025/2026 UEFA Champions League, Aresenal received Atletico Madrid at the Emirates Stadium.
After a pretty calm first half in which both teams analyzed each other, attackers gained confidence in the second half, especially for Arsenal as Gabriel opened the scoreline on free-kick at the 57′ minute thanks to the assist from Declan Rice. And then Arsenal got more and more offensive. Martinelli scored the 2-0 goal 7 minutes later with the assist from Lewis-Skelly.
Atletico’s defense continued to bury itself at the 67′ minute with Swedish striker Viktor Gyokeres scoring the 3-0 goal. He even scored a brace only 3 minutes later. Arsenal scored 4 goals in 13 minutes ! Gyokeres scored his 4th and 5th goals this season, his first two in UEFA Champions League with Arsenal.
