Arsenal failed to claim all three points against a spirited Sunderland side. At the Stadium of Light, the Gunners were held to a 2–2 draw by the impressive newly promoted team, who continue their surprising push into the top half of the table.

In this unexpected top-of-the-table clash, Arsenal started brightly, controlling possession and pressing high. But their final touch let them down, particularly through Eze’s wastefulness. Sunderland punished them for it. From a long ball, Mukiele’s flick found Ballard, who finished like a striker to give the hosts the lead.

After the break, Arsenal responded quickly. Capitalizing on a mistake from Enzo Le Fée, Bukayo Saka leveled the score before Trossard cut inside from the left and curled home to make it 2–1. It seemed all wrapped up for the Gunners — until the resilient Black Cats struck back. Substitute Brian Brobbey scored a stunning acrobatic equalizer to snatch a dramatic point.

With this result, Sunderland continue to impress, showing their early-season form is no fluke — what started as the surprise of the summer may well turn into the story of the season.
