Liverpool collapsed once again at Anfield, suffering a brutal 4–1 defeat to PSV Eindhoven that raises serious questions about the direction of Arne Slot’s project.
The Kop had barely settled when disaster struck. Just four minutes in, Liverpool conceded a penalty after a clumsy handball from Virgil van Dijk. Ivan Perišić buried the spot kick. PSV repeatedly threatened on the break as Liverpool pushed high, but the Reds briefly clawed their way back when Szoboszlai pounced on a rebound from a Gakpo shot.
Any momentum evaporated after halftime. Guus Til punished another lapse from van Dijk to restore PSV’s lead, and from there Liverpool simply unraveled. Couhaib Driouech added two more—both the product of slow reactions and utter defensive disorganization.
The diagnosis is stark: a collective meltdown. Every setback sends Liverpool into a tailspin, and the team appears mentally fragile, tactically uncertain, and incapable of stabilizing a match once it turns against them. With the season already veering off course, decisive action may be unavoidable regarding Slot’s future.
