It was a wild Saturday in the Premier League, with a thrilling 3 p.m. multiplex delivering 19 goals
Top of the day : Manchester City reduce the gap

City, victorious over Leeds United FC, had to work for it. Without Erling Haaland, Manchester City looked less sharp in attack. Leeds could even have opened the scoring through Dominic Calvert-Lewin, but once again Gianluigi Donnarumma came to the rescue.
It was winter signing Antoine Semenyo who secured the win for City. The club’s January transfer window now looks inspired, as their other major addition, Marc Guéhi, delivered another commanding defensive display.
City move to within two points of Arsenal FC, who now face pressure ahead of their clash with Chelsea FC.
Flop of the day : Newcastle lost at home again

Newcastle’s season is starting to derail. Extremely inconsistent in the league, the Magpies once again showed defensive frailties unworthy of a team aiming for Champions League qualification.
This marks their fourth home defeat of the season. Without a meaningful Champions League run — they are set to face FC Barcelona — cracks could begin to appear within the club’s foundations. Even head coach Eddie Howe is under scrutiny, with some suggesting his methods may be growing outdated.
Liverpool and Brentford deliver the show

In the 3 p.m. window, alongside Newcastle–Everton, Liverpool hosted West Ham United FC while Brentford traveled to Burnley FC.
Those two matches alone produced 15 goals. Liverpool triumphed 5–2 over West Ham, with another goal from Hugo Ekitike, while Brentford nearly squandered a 3–0 halftime lead but ultimately snatched a dramatic 4–3 victory against Burnley.
A Saturday that perfectly captured the chaos and spectacle of the Premier League.
