His athleticism fits perfectly with the Reds’ direct, high-tempo style of play. Arsenal, meanwhile, have been searching for months for a winger capable of bringing more unpredictability to the left flank. Mikel Arteta is particularly fond of players who can stretch opposing defenses before cutting inside—one of Barcola’s greatest strengths.
Bayern Munich are also keeping a close eye on the situation, although the English clubs currently appear to have the upper hand. PSG, however, are not actively looking to sell. The player himself also does not appear eager to force an immediate move. Refusing a contract extension does not necessarily mean demanding a transfer right away. Barcola’s future will now depend as much on his own intentions as on the movement of the European transfer market. If Liverpool or Arsenal decide to invest more than €120 million, PSG will have a difficult decision to make. If not, the Parisian club could keep their winger for another season before reopening negotiations over a new contract.
