Marseille’s ongoing struggles in big Ligue 1 fixtures continued at the Stade Pierre-Mauroy, where OM delivered another frustrating performance and fell once again—this time to Lille, who secured a 1–0 win thanks to a goal from Ethan Mbappé.

OM remain their own worst enemy this season. After failing to seize top spot by conceding a last-minute equalizer to Toulouse, Marseille were once again flat and uninspired in possession, offering almost no threat to a disciplined Lille side. And just as in the meeting between the two clubs in May 2025, Lille capitalized on a costly misjudgment by Argentinian goalkeeper Gerónimo Rulli. Caught completely out of position on a poorly timed charge, he gifted Ethan Mbappé the opening goal. His later save on Giroud in the 27th minute did little to redeem a disappointing outing.
Lille, well-organized and tactically strict, maintained control even after Hamza Igamane was forced off with an injury in the 25th minute. Marseille only began to show a spark when youngsters Bakola and Vaz entered the match, providing a modest injection of energy. Greenwood came closest to rescuing OM with an impressive 80-meter run, but Turkish goalkeeper Ozer stood tall to deny him.
Lille now draw level with Marseille on 29 points.
Brest beat Monaco

In the early evening match, Stade Brestois edged out Monaco 1–0 thanks to a strike from Kamory Doumbia. The Bretons held firm defensively despite the dismissal of Ludovic Ajorque, while Monaco once again showed their inconsistency—failing to build on last week’s impressive win over PSG and missing a key opportunity to close in on the podium.
