Hungary represent the country in international football.

Overview

Hungary has competed in international football since the early twentieth century and built a strong reputation in the mid-twentieth century, particularly in the 1950s, when the national side was widely regarded as one of the best in the world. That era produced a generation of outstanding players and a style of play that influenced football across Europe. The team reached the FIFA World Cup final in 1954 but did not win the tournament.

Hungary has qualified for multiple World Cup and European Championship tournaments over the decades, though the team has not claimed a major senior international title. Recent squads have included players such as Ádám Pécsi, Péter Szappanos, Bence Tóth, Adam Yaakobishvili, Bendegúz Bolla and Márton Csinger, who represent a younger generation aiming to restore the country to consistent competition at the highest level. The team plays its home matches in Budapest.
