Uzbekistan U23

Founded

1946

Uzbekistan U23 have fielded a national team since 1946, playing in World Cup qualifying and their confederation’s tournaments.

Overview

The Uzbekistan under-23 national football team represents Uzbekistan in international competitions restricted to players aged 23 and under, including the AFC U-23 Asian Cup. The team is governed by the Football Federation of Uzbekistan, which was founded in 1946. Uzbekistan has established itself as a competitive force in Asian youth and under-23 football, regularly qualifying for continental tournaments and developing players for the senior national side.

The squad has featured several players who have gone on to represent Uzbekistan at senior level. Among those currently associated with the under-23 setup are Samandar Muratbaev, M. Murkaev, U. Rustamov, D. Abdullayev, I. Anvarov, and Ozodbek Ergashev. The team operates within a broader development structure intended to produce consistent talent for senior football.

Uzbekistan's senior national team has not won a major international title, though it has competed with regularity in AFC qualification campaigns. The under-23 programme reflects the federation's continued emphasis on youth development across the country.
