Abedi Ayew, known as Abedi Pelé, won the 1993 Champions League with Marseille, though suspension kept him out of the final against Milan. He was named African Footballer of the Year in 1991, 1992 and 1993. He won two French league titles at Marseille and made 112 appearances for the club. He won the Africa Cup of Nations with Ghana in 1982, at 17. His sons André and Jordan Ayew have both played for Ghana.
