Paris and Strasbourg kicked off Matchday 8 of Ligue 1 with a spectacular showdown between the first and third-placed sides — and it didn’t disappoint. Both teams traded blows in what turned out to be an instant classic. A 3-3 draw that fans will remember as one of the best matches of the season so far.
Strasbourg’s young guns arrived in the French capital eager to prove themselves against a PSG side that, despite dealing with injuries, remains dominant and incredibly hard to break down. Yet with several absences in Paris’ backline, it always had the potential to become a goal fest.
And that’s exactly what it turned into — a wild shootout that ended in a result which might just please Marseille.
Match recap
The fireworks began early. In the 6th minute, Bradley Barcola combined beautifully with Désiré Doué for the opener — a slick one-two that sliced through Strasbourg’s defense before Barcola slotted home with composure.
But Strasbourg wasn’t there to play the victim. The Alsatians stuck to their direct, vertical style and quickly struck back. Argentinian forward Joaquín Panichelli leveled things up with a well-timed header off a pinpoint cross from Guéla Doué, Désiré’s brother.
Then came a moment of brilliance. In the 42nd minute, Valentín Barco pulled off a stunning chipped pass over the defense to Diego Moreira, who finished with a slow-rolling shot that wrong-footed Lucas Chevalier.
2-1 Strasbourg at halftime — and it got even better for the visitors right after the break. Panichelli doubled his tally with another composed finish, putting Strasbourg up 3-1.
However, their youth and lack of experience showed. Strasbourg keeper Mike Penders brought down a PSG attacker in the box, gifting Gonçalo Ramos a penalty that he converted with ease. Then, poor defending allowed Mayulu to stroll into the area and fire home the equalizer for 3-3.
MVP : Joaquin Panichelli

An outstanding performance from the Argentine striker, who made the most of his opportunity in Emmanuel Emegha’s absence. His brace showcased his finishing instincts, aerial prowess, and selfless link-up play — all vital for Strasbourg’s attacking fluidity. Zabarnyi will not forget his duel with Panichelli anytime soon.
