Carlos Alberto captained Brazil at the 1970 World Cup and scored the fourth goal in the final against Italy, running onto Pelé’s pass to strike it first time from the right. He played 445 games for Santos alongside Pelé and later joined him at the New York Cosmos, winning four NASL titles. A knee injury kept him out of the 1974 World Cup. He won 53 caps for Brazil and died on October 25, 2016.
