Šuker scored 76 goals for Sevilla over five seasons before joining Real Madrid in 1996, where he won La Liga in his first year and the Champions League in 1998. At the 1998 World Cup he scored six goals, took the Golden Boot, and got the winner against the Netherlands in the third-place match, Croatia’s best finish. He also scored 45 goals in 68 games for Croatia, and won the 1987 Under-20 World Cup with Yugoslavia.
