Cannavaro won 136 caps for Italy and captained the side that won the 2006 World Cup, reaching his 100th cap in the semi-final against Germany. He took the Ballon d’Or that year, the last defender to do so. He spent seven seasons at Parma and won the UEFA Cup there in 1999. His two Serie A titles with Juventus were revoked in the Calciopoli case. He then won two La Liga titles at Real Madrid.
