Injuries, small doubts, experimental attacking options—but in the end, always the same result: an extraordinary PSG showing their full class by dismantling Atalanta 4-0.
PSG 4-0 Atalanta
Marquinhos 3’, Kvaratskhelia 39’, Mendes 51’, Ramos 90+1’
Extraordinary is the only word to sum up what we witnessed at the Parc des Princes. In their first match as defending Champions League holders, PSG delivered a true demonstration of collective strength, elevated by individual brilliance—most notably from captain Marquinhos.
Highly active in the press, the Parisian skipper threw himself into every challenge and was rewarded with the opening goal of the night, finishing off a low cross from Fabián Ruiz. The match began at a furious pace, with PSG laying siege to Carnesecchi’s goal, only denied by the keeper’s reflex saves and the woodwork (Hakimi, 10’). PSG were simply too strong, and the second goal came from a spectacular strike by Kvaratskhelia. The scoreline could have been even harsher had Barcola converted his penalty.
The second half was played at a slightly lower intensity from the Parisians, but still, Nuno Mendes and Gonçalo Ramos added their names to the scoresheet.
This PSG side looks unstoppable. Despite missing key players (Dembélé, Doué) and losing Neves to injury, the reigning champions showed no mercy.
The question now is: who can possibly stop them?
