With their current doubts and poor form, Liverpool had a big challenge against one of the Premier League biggest stories this year : Sunderland and their young team and coach Régis Le Bris. At Anfield, the Reds needed a push and a big performance. It has once again failed as both teams shared the points.

In the first half, Liverpool showed their qualities and had more chances than their opponents. However, Sunderland’s defense and especially their midfield with Granit Xhaka stayed compact and smart and have prevented Liverpool to score.

At the beginning of the second half, Mohamed Salah came in for Liverpool as we thought their world class winger could have helped his team to shine. But even if they were as dominant as in the first half, Liverpool conceded the 1st goal with Chemsdine Talbi scoring at the 67′ minute with the assist from Enzo Le Fée.

Offensive difficulties and defence not focused enough at key moments, Liverpool were on course to disappoint their fans again, but a big moment happened at the 81′ minute as Florian Wirtz thought he would score his 1st Premier League goal for Liverpool, unfortunately for him the goal counted as an own goal from Mukiele.

The most important thing was achieved, however, as Liverpool equalised thanks to the numerous chances they created throughout the match.

Liverpool conceded its 1st draw of the season in Premier League after 14 games, the Reds are now 8th in the championship with 22 points, 6 points behind 2nd Manchester City. Sunderland are 6th with 23 points.
