Manchester United extended their remarkable run of form with a confident 2–0 victory over Tottenham Hotspur on Saturday at Old Trafford, marking their fourth consecutive Premier League win under interim boss Michael Carrick. This latest triumph further solidifies United’s resurgence and their position in the race for a top-four finish in the 2025–26 season.

In only his fourth league game in charge, Carrick oversaw a composed and disciplined performance from the Red Devils, who controlled large portions of the contest and took full advantage of a key early turning point in the match. Spurs captain Cristian Romero was shown a straight red card in the 29th minute for a reckless challenge on Casemiro, leaving Tottenham to battle with ten men for most of the game.

Despite being down a player, Tottenham showed resilience early on and had a few promising moments, but United’s shape and momentum were evident throughout. The visitors struggled to create clear opportunities once the numerical disadvantage took hold, while United began to grow into the match with increased confidence and greater control in midfield.

The breakthrough came in the 38th minute, when a well-worked set-piece routine saw Bryan Mbeumo finish low into the corner to give United the lead. That goal reflected not only United’s tactical discipline but also their willingness to capitalize on key moments.

Manchester United remained patient and largely in command after halftime, creating chances and probing for a second goal. They finally got that cushion in the 81st minute when Bruno Fernandes, consistent as ever, pounced on a loose ball at the back post to make it 2–0. The goal added to Fernandes’s already impressive season and underlined his importance to United’s creative output.

This victory means United have now won four straight Premier League matches, a feat they hadn’t achieved since February 2024, and are unbeaten in eight league games overall. Their improved form has lifted confidence around Old Trafford and propelled them into a strong position as the season enters its crucial phase.

For Tottenham, the loss continues a troubled campaign — they remain winless in their last seven league games and now face mounting pressure in midtable.

Overall, United’s blend of resilience, tactical control, and growing belief under Carrick has been key to their recent string of results, and Saturday’s performance showcased a side with renewed ambition and direction.
