Overview

The Albania national football team represents Albania in international association football and is governed by the Football Association of Albania, which was founded in 1930. The team competes in UEFA qualifying campaigns for the FIFA World Cup and the UEFA European Championship. Albania has participated in UEFA Euro 2016, marking a significant milestone as the country's first appearance at a major international tournament. The squad has historically drawn from a relatively small domestic league, supplemented by players of Albanian descent based abroad.

Among the current notable players are M. Dajsinani, E. Kastrati, P. Qirko, A. Sherri, S. Simoni, and T. Strakosha, the latter having earned recognition at club level in European football. The team has not won a major senior international title. Albania plays its home matches primarily at Air Albania Stadium in Tirana. The federation continues to develop the domestic football structure with the aim of improving the national team's long-term competitiveness.
