Overview

The Gabon national football team represents Gabon in international association football and is governed by the Fédération Gabonaise de Football, which was founded in 1962. The team competes under the nickname the Panthers. Gabon is a member of the Confederation of African Football and has qualified for the Africa Cup of Nations on several occasions, though the team has not won a major senior international title.

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, who played for the team for many years before his international retirement, remains the most prominent figure in the country's football history. The current squad includes players such as F. Bekale, L. Mbaba, O. Bagnama, Y. M'Bemba, U. Mboula, and A. Moucketou-Moussounda. Several of these players are based at clubs in Europe and Africa.

Gabon has co-hosted the Africa Cup of Nations and continues to develop its domestic football infrastructure with the aim of improving consistent results at continental level.
