Morocco's national football team, known as the Atlas Lions, is governed by the Royal Moroccan Football Federation, which was founded in 1955. The team competes in the Africa Cup of Nations and the FIFA World Cup, and has qualified for the World Cup on several occasions. Morocco won the Africa Cup of Nations in 1976, which remains the team's most significant international honour. The side reached the round of sixteen at the 1986 World Cup, becoming the first African team to advance from the group stage of that tournament, and later reached the semi-finals of the 2022 World Cup in Qatar, an achievement no African side had previously managed.
The current squad includes goalkeeper Yassine Bounou, who has established himself as one of the leading goalkeepers in the game, alongside defenders such as Achraf Hakimi and Noussair Mazraoui. Sofyan Amrabat has been a prominent figure in midfield. Morocco is scheduled to participate in the 2026 World Cup.
