Okocha won Olympic gold with Nigeria at Atlanta 1996 and the Africa Cup of Nations in 1994. He scored 30 goals in 62 games for Fenerbahçe, then joined Paris Saint-Germain in 1998 for a fee that was a record for an African player. He captained Bolton Wanderers after signing on a free transfer in 2002 and led them to the 2004 League Cup final. He was voted BBC African Footballer of the Year in 2003 and 2004.
