Still shaken by their heavy defeat against Atlético Madrid, Real Madrid bounced back with a 3–1 win over a determined Villarreal side. The star duo of Kylian Mbappé and Vinícius Júnior proved decisive once again, carrying Los Blancos to an important victory at the Santiago Bernabéu.

Seven wins in their first eight league matches and two victories in the Champions League — yet doubts had begun to creep in around the club this week. After last weekend’s humiliation in the Madrid derby, Xabi Alonso’s men desperately needed a reaction.

And that reaction came in style. From the opening minutes, Madrid looked sharper and more aggressive, eager to erase the memory of their collapse at the Metropolitano. Villarreal, though, made life difficult with their compact defensive setup and quick transitions.

The breakthrough came early in the second half when Vinícius Júnior, as electric as ever, opened the scoring in the 47th minute with a composed finish after a slick passing move. The Brazilian doubled Madrid’s lead in the 69th minute, capping off another dazzling run that left the Villarreal defense helpless.

The visitors briefly reignited the contest through Georges Mikautadze, who pulled one back in the 73rd minute, punishing a rare lapse from Madrid’s back line. But any hope of a comeback was short-lived. Kylian Mbappé, quiet for most of the match, sealed the result with a ruthless strike in the 81st minute — a reminder that Real Madrid’s new superstar only needs a single moment to change a game.

In the end, the Bernabéu breathed a sigh of relief. Madrid rediscovered both confidence and rhythm, guided by their two world-class forwards who continue to build a devastating partnership. A solid response before another demanding stretch of fixtures for Xabi Alonso’s team.
