Claude Makélélé won the French title with Nantes in 1995 and the Champions League with Real Madrid in 2002. Madrid sold him to Chelsea in 2003 while signing David Beckham; the club won no trophy the following season. He took two Premier League titles in his first two years in London. He played 71 times for France without scoring and started the 2006 World Cup final. The holding role now carries his name.
