Juan Román Riquelme won the Copa Libertadores three times with Boca Juniors, in 2000, 2001 and 2007. He also beat Real Madrid in the 2000 Intercontinental Cup final. His move to Barcelona brought only 30 appearances and three goals in three years. On loan at Villarreal he scored 23 times in 68 games and reached the 2006 Champions League semifinals. He led the 2006 World Cup in assists and won Olympic gold in 2008.
