Italy's national football team, known as the Azzurri for their traditional blue kit, is governed by the Federazione Italiana Giuoco Calcio, founded in 1898. The team has won the FIFA World Cup four times, in 1934, 1938, 1982, and 2006, making them one of the most successful nations in the competition's history. They have also won the UEFA European Championship twice, in 1968 and 2021, with the most recent title secured by defeating England on penalties in the final at Wembley.

The current squad is a blend of experienced internationals and younger players developing at club level. Gianluigi Donnarumma serves as the first-choice goalkeeper and is one of the squad's most recognised figures globally. Other prominent members include defenders Alessandro Bastoni and Riccardo Calafiori, along with midfielder Nicolo Barella.

Italy compete in UEFA's Nations League alongside their qualifying campaigns, continuing a long tradition of competitive European and international football.
