Gerrard scored Liverpool’s first goal in the 2005 Champions League final in Istanbul, after the team had trailed Milan 3–0 at half-time. He made 504 appearances for the club between 1998 and 2015. He won the UEFA Cup in 2001 and the FA Cup in 2001 and 2006, scoring a long-range equalizer in the 2006 final against West Ham. He earned 114 caps for England between 2000 and 2014. He finished his career at LA Galaxy, making 34 appearances.
