Castore now, Adidas then
Castore has supplied the Republic of Ireland since March 2023, the British brand’s first national team deal, taking over after Umbro’s contract collapsed with the distributor. The current kit landed on 22 January 2026: deep green at home with tonal vertical stripes, a white V collar and gold accents, with a shamrock embroidered high on the back, and a white away shirt with an angular two tone green pattern across the chest and shoulders.

A detail worth knowing if you are shopping by year: there was no 2025 Ireland kit. The shirt released in March 2024 covered both 2024 and 2025, including the whole qualifying campaign, so a listing that claims to be a 2025 Ireland shirt is describing the 2024 one.
The campaign that ended in Prague
Ireland came closer than they had in years. Second in group F on ten points, behind Portugal, thanks to a 2-0 win over Portugal in Dublin on 13 November 2025 with two Troy Parrott goals and a red card for Cristiano Ronaldo, then a 3-2 win in Hungary three days later where Parrott completed a hat trick with the winner in the sixth minute of stoppage time.
The playoff on 26 March 2026 in Prague went the other way. Ireland led Czechia 2-0 inside 23 minutes and were pegged back, 2-2 after extra time, and lost 4-3 on penalties. It is a sixth World Cup in a row missed, with the last appearance still 2002.
Italia 90, the shirt that defines the archive
Adidas dressed Ireland from 1986 to 1994, and the green shirt of Italia 90 is the one the archive revolves around. Jack Charlton’s team drew all three group games, then met Romania in Genoa on 25 June 1990. Nil nil after extra time, then penalties: at 4-4, Packie Bonner saved from Daniel Timofte and David O’Leary scored the one that sent Ireland to a quarter final, the only one in the country’s history, lost 1-0 to Italy through Salvatore Schillaci.
The other one to know is the 1994 Adidas shirt, worn for the win over Italy at Giants Stadium on 18 June 1994, Ray Houghton lobbing Pagliuca on eleven minutes. It was Ireland’s first win at a World Cup finals.
What the archive costs
Ireland has one of the deepest second hand catalogues of any mid sized nation, several hundred shirts across the Adidas, Umbro and Castore eras, and a large number of them exist in boys sizing. Prices start in the teens for training shirts and late era replicas and climb into the hundreds for the early nineties. Check the crest before you buy: Northern Ireland shirts sit in the same search results and are a different team.

Frequently asked questions
Who makes the Ireland football jersey?
Castore, since a deal signed in March 2023. It was the British brand’s first national team contract, agreed after Umbro’s arrangement ended when the distributor went into administration. Adidas made the shirts of the Italia 90 and USA 94 era.
Did Ireland qualify for the 2026 World Cup?
No. Ireland finished second in qualifying group F on ten points, beating Portugal 2-0 in Dublin and Hungary 3-2 away, then lost the playoff in Prague on 26 March 2026, 2-2 after extra time against Czechia and 4-3 on penalties. The last World Cup appearance remains 2002.
Is there a 2025 Ireland shirt?
No. The kit released in March 2024 was worn through 2024 and 2025, so anything advertised as a 2025 Ireland shirt is the 2024 one. The current kit was released on 22 January 2026.
How do I avoid buying a Northern Ireland shirt by mistake?
Check the crest and the shade. Republic of Ireland shirts carry the FAI crest and a deeper green, Northern Ireland uses the Irish FA crest. Both appear in the same searches and the training shirts look similar.
