The Slovenia national football team represents Slovenia in international association football and is governed by the Football Association of Slovenia, which was founded in 1920. The team competes under the auspices of UEFA and FIFA. Slovenia declared independence in 1991, and the national team subsequently gained international recognition, qualifying for the FIFA World Cup on two occasions, in 2002 and 2010. The team has not won a major international senior tournament.
