Overview

The Finland national football team represents Finland in international association football and is governed by the Football Association of Finland, founded in 1907. The team competes in UEFA competitions and has historically been regarded as a modest force in European football, rarely advancing deep into major tournaments. Their most celebrated achievement in recent years was qualifying for UEFA Euro 2020, their first appearance at a major international tournament final stage.

Several players have established themselves at a high level in European club football. Lukas Hrádecký serves as the regular goalkeeper and captain, playing for Bayer Leverkusen in Germany. Jesse Joronen and Viljami Sinisalo provide goalkeeping depth, while Riku Jansson, Nikolai Alho and Valtteri Koski feature among the outfield options available to the national side.

Finland has not won a major senior international title. The national team plays its home matches in Helsinki, primarily at the Olympic Stadium.
