Overview

Austria's national football team represents the country in international association football and is governed by the Austrian Football Association, which was founded in 1904, making it one of the older football federations in Europe. The team competes in the UEFA Nations League and qualifies for major tournaments through UEFA's standard competition structure. Austria has not won a major international title at senior level, though the team reached third place at the 1954 FIFA World Cup, which remains its best finish at that competition.

The squad has produced several players of considerable reputation. David Alaba, who has played for clubs including Bayern Munich and Real Madrid, is among the most prominent Austrian footballers in the modern era.
