Overview

The Senegal national football team represents Senegal in international association football and is governed by the Fédération Sénégalaise de Football, founded in 1960. The team is commonly known as the Lions of Teranga. Senegal won the Africa Cup of Nations in 2021, their first continental title, and had previously reached the final in 2002. That same year they also advanced to the quarter-finals of the FIFA World Cup, which remains one of the strongest performances by an African side at that tournament.

The current squad includes experienced goalkeeper Édouard Mendy and defender Kalidou Koulibaly, both of whom have played at the highest level of European club football. Sadio Mané has been among the most prominent players in the team's recent history. The squad competes in World Cup qualification and continental fixtures throughout the year, with the next World Cup fixture scheduled for July 2026.
