Overview

The Peru national football team represents the country in international association football and is governed by the Federación Peruana de Fútbol, which was founded in 1922. The team competes within the CONMEBOL confederation in South America. Peru has qualified for the FIFA World Cup on several occasions, with its most notable participation coming in 1970, when the side reached the quarter-finals in Mexico. The team plays its home matches primarily at the Estadio Nacional in Lima.

Peru has not won a major senior international title, though the side has been competitive within South America across different periods. Among the current squad, goalkeeper Pedro Gallese is one of the more experienced figures at international level. Other notable players in the contemporary setup include M. Córdova, A. Duarte, D. Enríquez, D. Prieto, and D. Romero. The team continues to develop its squad through CONMEBOL qualifying competitions and friendly fixtures.
