Overview

The Tanzania national football team represents the United Republic of Tanzania in international men's football and is governed by the Football Association of Tanzania, which was founded in 1930. The team competes in the Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers and has participated in the CECAFA Cup, a regional tournament in which East African sides have historically been competitive. Tanzania has not won a major senior international title.

The squad draws players from domestic clubs as well as professionals based abroad. Current notable players include Y. Amosi, Z. Foba, A. Manula, M. Hussein, L. Lawi, and N. Dismas. The national side is commonly known as Taifa Stars, a name that reflects a sense of national identity. Qualifying for the Africa Cup of Nations finals has been an infrequent achievement, and the team continues to develop its standing within the Confederation of African Football through ongoing regional competition.
