Rui Costa won the 1991 World Youth Championship with Portugal alongside Luís Figo. He made 215 appearances for Fiorentina across seven seasons, scoring 38 goals. He joined AC Milan in 2001 and won the Champions League in 2003, beating Juventus on penalties at Old Trafford. He added the Serie A title the following season. He won 94 caps for Portugal and played in the Euro 2004 final on home soil. He returned to Benfica in 2006 and retired there two years later.
