Brighton and Hove Albion Football Club was founded in 1901 and is based in Brighton, England. The club competes in the Premier League, the top division of English football, and plays its home matches at the American Express Stadium. Known informally as the Seagulls, the club traditionally wear blue and white stripes. Brighton spent much of their history in the lower divisions of English football before achieving sustained top-flight status in the 2010s and 2020s.
In recent seasons Brighton have developed a reputation for an organised, possession-based style of play and for identifying talented players through careful recruitment. The squad currently includes goalkeepers Jason Steele and Bart Verbruggen, defenders Orel Boscagli, Diego Coppola, Costinha and Maxim De Cuyper. The club reached the FA Cup final in 1983, their most prominent achievement in cup competition. Under successive managers Brighton have maintained a competitive presence in the Premier League.
