Overview

Greece competes in international football under the governance of the Hellenic Football Federation, which was founded in 1926. The national team plays its home matches in Greece and competes within UEFA. The team's most significant achievement came at UEFA Euro 2004, held in Portugal, where Greece defeated several favoured opponents to claim the title, a result widely regarded as one of the major upsets in European football history.

The current squad includes goalkeepers Constantinos Mandas, Anastasios Tsiftsis, Kostas Tzolakis and Odysseas Vlachodimos, alongside defenders including Tasos Androutsos and Dimitris Giannoulis. The squad draws players from domestic Greek clubs as well as from leagues across Europe.

Greece competes regularly in UEFA Nations League qualification and World Cup and European Championship qualifying campaigns. The team has developed a number of players active at club level across several European leagues, reflecting a continued presence in continental football.
