Overview
The Netherlands national football team represents the country in international men's football and is governed by the Royal Dutch Football Association, known as the KNVB, which was founded in 1889. The team plays in its traditional orange shirts and is commonly referred to as Oranje. Their greatest international achievement came at the UEFA European Championship in 1988, when they defeated the Soviet Union in the final. The team has reached three FIFA World Cup finals, in 1974, 1978 and 2010, without winning the tournament.
