Overview

Atalanta Bergamasca Calcio was founded in 1907 in Bergamo, in the Lombardy region of northern Italy. The club competes in Serie A, the top tier of Italian football, and plays its home matches at the Gewiss Stadium in Bergamo. Traditionally considered a mid-table side for much of its history, Atalanta rose to considerable prominence during the late 2010s under coach Gian Piero Gasperini, reaching the UEFA Champions League quarter-finals in the 2019-20 season and earning consistent European qualification. The club won the Coppa Italia on more than one occasion and claimed the UEFA Europa League title in the 2023-24 season.

The squad has included players such as goalkeeper Marco Carnesecchi, along with Jakub Pašalić, Federico Rossi, Marco Sportiello, Haissem Ahanor and Mitchell Bakker. Atalanta has a reputation for developing young talent and playing an attacking, high-intensity style of football.
