Founded in 1907, the club competes in Serie A, the top tier of Italian football, and plays its home matches at the Stadio Giuseppe Sinigaglia, a compact ground situated on the shore of Lake Como. The club has spent much of its history in the lower divisions of Italian football, with its most prominent period coming during the 1980s, when it competed in Serie A and featured several notable players.

After decades in the lower leagues, Como earned promotion back to Serie A ahead of the 2024-25 season, marking a significant return to top-flight football.
