Overview
TSG 1899 Hoffenheim is a German professional football club founded in 1899 in the village of Hoffenheim, now part of the municipality of Sinsheim in Baden-Württemberg. The club competes in the Bundesliga, Germany's top division, and plays its home matches at the PreZero Arena in Sinsheim. Hoffenheim remained a modest lower-league club for most of its existence before substantial investment from software entrepreneur Dietmar Hopp, a native of Hoffenheim, accelerated its rise through the divisions in the 2000s.
The club reached the Bundesliga for the first time in 2007 and quickly established itself as a competitive presence in German football. Under various managers, including a notable period with Julian Nagelsmann, Hoffenheim qualified for European competition on several occasions. The squad has featured a mix of established and developing talent over recent years, with players such as Oliver Baumann, a long-serving goalkeeper, among the more recognised figures at the club.
